What’s New for the 2011-12 Release?

Geometry, which was not included in reporting for the 2010-11 Report Cards, has been removed entirely.

Algebra II, Physical Science, Civics and Economics, and US History were not included as part of ABCs reporting for 2011-12.

As part of the U.S. Department of Education flexibility waiver granted to North Carolina, districts no longer receive a District Improvement Status. Additionally, schools no longer receive a School Improvement Status, but instead are identified with an ESEA School Status. Schools are designated based on the school’s performance, including the academic achievement and graduation rates of all students and all subgroups of students, and also base on how performance has changed over time.

The same waiver outlined above removed the Adequately Yearly Progress (AYP) designation. While schools will still be measured against annual measurable objectives (AMOs) calculated and reported under NCLB, it will no longer be the “all or nothing” measure of the past.

National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) and Teacher Working Conditions (TWC) data are available for the 2011-12 Report Cards.
